Summer vs. Winter Laundry

Just a quick post to vent about laundry woes. :D

I've been anticipating the end of winter laundry. Everything is bulky, heavy, and it takes more loads of laundry to do the same number of outfits than lightweight, less-fabric summer clothes. We've had several weeks of having to do both kinds of laundry since the weather still fluctuates so much in the spring. I hate this part too since you can't quite put away winter stuff and yet I have no room to put out both seasons.

Well, I think we've probably moved past the "both seasons" part which means it's warm enough for the kids to play in water outside. Kids being kids (and Tanner is especially bad at this) they go outside to play, realize "hey it's pretty hot out here" and get themselves wet one way or another. (Or they blame a sibling on them getting wet.) Then it's inside to get a swimming suit on (or a change of clothes) and head outside. A while later it's back inside to change again. They get bored being inside and go back out without getting back into a swimsuit and then it's a whole repeat process again.

So, instead of having one lightweight outfit per day from 4 kids to accumulate during the week it's been more like an average of 2-3 outfits per day per kid. Not to mention how Tanner is bad at leaving his clothes everywhere in the house. Also, Garrett gets changes not just because of wetness but because of stickiness. They all help themselves to about 3 popsicles a day and Garrett obviously is not that fast at eating one and when he goes in and out of the house there is usually a trail and puddle of popsicle everywhere he goes.

It brings me back to last year when I was getting pretty sick of the wet 'normal' clothes. I had just eaten something and when I was trying to quickly tell them not to spray water before they did, I had one of those "bubbles" in your throat that changes how your voice sounds. So every now and again (throughout the whole year) the kids repeat and mimick quite accurately what I sounded like: "If you want to get wet, put your bathing suits on!"

I HEAR you!! I've found that summer laundry is NO different from winter laundry with all the wet stuff and towels, etc. I'm resigned to the fact that there will NEVER be a break in laundry till my kids are out and do their OWN!!! :D

I do not like laundry any way you put it. Although my summer loads are lighter than my winter loads. And if the kids clothes get wet and dirty, I make them wait until bath and bedtime. Then they can put on clean clothes. I hate when they want to change clothes mid-day because their clothes are a little wet. I always tell them to go play and they will dry!!! :You guys are better than I am!!
