Let's Play a Game

There is a game I've seen on store shelves called "Split the Ward". I know nothing about how the game is played but I thought what I would like to do here would be similar.

Here is the history: This past Sunday our ward boundaries were changed...again. When we first moved here our ward boundaries were one big triangle. The first change only changed one side of the ward; from the boundary being the backyards of homes on a major road to middle of the road. About 5 years ago they split that triangle in half. Sort of. The change on Sunday made that triangle into three wards. About a year and a half ago they split our Stake in half. There were about 16 wards in the stake before the split. We were left with 8 but Sunday made 2 new wards, one obviously not affecting our ward.

One of the changes taking place Sunday was the assignment of wards to a new building. This new building is on 1200 West which is close to the Stake Center where we have been attending. This is where the game comes in. Pretend that you are in charge of assigning wards to the different buildings available. You have to take into consideration distance, time traveled, surrounding ward boundaries, etc. Some of the things you should know is:

*Beside the wards listed in the scan there is one ward from another stake (our previous stake) attending the building in the Sandridge boundary (on 1000 W).
*There is also a singles ward that has been attending the building in the Bluff Ridge boundary (on 2700 S) but you can make them go wherever you feel like it.
*I have colored the ward boundaries to make it a little easier to see the boundary lines. I have also colored the streets yellow and the major streets orange-ish.
*The newly formed wards are Jensen Park and Harmony Bluff.
*You need to list the ward, building, and time. Such as: Sandridge, 1000 W, 9a.m.
*The times available, in case you don't already know such things are 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. with a maximum of 3 wards per building.

The last thing I'll do is list all of the wards alphabetically so you know what you have to deal with.
1. Bluff Ridge
2. Harmony Bluff
3. Heritage (singles)
4. Jensen Park
5. Sandridge
6. Silver Lakes
7. South Bluff
8. Spring Haven
9. Walnut Grove
10. Whisper Wood
11. 3rd Ward (in other stake going to 1000 W building)

The ward building names:
1000 West Bldg
2700 South Bldg
1200 West Bldg
Stake Center

Obviously there is something that is bugging me about the assignments, and I was just curious to know how other people not affected by this would make assignments. After a week or so I'll post about what the assignments actually are.
Have fun! ;)

Since it seems you can't enlarge the above scan, here is a link to my picasa album that I HOPE you can see larger.

Okay. I'll play you're game. Here's what I came up with (not knowing where the border is with the stake that 3rd Ward is from):

Stake Center
-Jensen Park, 9am
-Harmony Bluff, 11am
-Heritage, 1pm

1200 W
-South Bluff, 9am
-Spring Haven, 11am
-Silver Lakes, 1pm

1000 W
-Sand Ridge, 9am
-Walnut Grove, 11am
-3rd Ward, 1pm (or this one could be in 2700 S, depending on which one borders 3rd Ward's stake)

2700 S
-Bluff Ridge, 9am
-Whisper Wood, 11am

So how close did I get?? And which ward are you in, anyway. (I guess I could look up your address and figure it out for myself...)

Incidentally, it is very odd to me to see such teeny tiny ward boundaries, with churches packed so close together. I'd forgotten how it is in Utah. It would probably take 20 minutes to drive from one end of our ward to the other! And our Stake covers the entire southern half of Salem plus two of its suburbs (it's also getting too big for its britches, but we found out SUnday that they won't be building or renovating now because of the economy and its impact on the Church's investments. :( Currently meeting at our very old Stake Center:
4th Ward, 8am
2nd Ward, 10am
5th Ward, 12pm
3rd Branch (singles), 2pm

When we were in 5th ward a few months ago, we would exit the building at the closest door and walk all the way down one side of it outside rather than try to work our way through the throngs packed into the hallways! (the parking lot is only on one end of the building)
