Movie Night

After reading on some other blogs about fun things people do as a family on a somewhat regular basis I realized how boring we are. We don't go anywhere, we don't do anything. I feel badly about this on a regular basis when I think about all the things I could be doing with my kids, like bake cookies for example.

The thing in particular I thought would be SO easy and the kids would like would be to have a movie night and then the kids could just sleep in the living room afterwards if they felt so inclined. They were pretty excited about this idea and started getting ready for it right away. The first movie they picked out (which took them no less than 20 minutes to decide upon) was Charlotte's Web.

I gave Garrett a few minutes at the beginning but then put him to bed. It was already about 9:30-9:45-ish by then anyway. After he was in bed I popped some corn in the microwave and gave it to those who wanted it which were only Savannah, Tanner, and myself. Ethan normally partakes of it but declined this time. This is important information because about 45 minutes later Ethan quietly got up from his spot on the ground and went to the bathroom. I had just finished my popcorn so I got up to wash my hands and checked on him in the bathroom. He had thrown up. He didn't have more than a baked potato with butter and salt for dinner plus Kool-Aid and no snacks after that that I know of so I don't think it was over-indulgence or anything. He ended up not throwing up anymore but slept in the bathroom almost all night instead of the living room.

Savannah didn't want to be in the living room since I had no intention of sleeping in there so she slept in her own bed even though she was physically closer to the bathroom where Ethan was. Jon went to bed as well which left poor little Tanner asleep on the couch all by himself until about 6 a.m. when I heard him go into his room.

So it wasn't quite how I imagined a fun family activity turning out but I guess the important thing is that we made an attempt.

I guess Ethan's bathroom incident wasn't a fluke. Savannah woke up just before 2 a.m. last night. The unfortunate part is that she didn't quite make it to the bathroom. She first said she "thought about it too much" then she said she thinks she just had an air bubble. I don't think so.
The question now is Who is next? My guess is Garrett since he steals everyone's cups and drinks out of them.

OHHHHH, Stacy, what a fun night!!! Sorry it didn't turn out too great! We've been doing our little movie night for years and the kids LOVE it, but it's no fun when you have sick little ones. I hope you are surviving and it hasn't gone through everyone! Good luck, try again next week :D
